National SAR Agency Republic Of Indonesia

In order to improve response time National SAR Agency in the air disaster handling, shipping and other disasters, the National SAR Agency operates the LUT equipment - MCC (Local User Terminal - Mission Control Center) as a means of early detection. LUT is the ground segment of the Cospas-Sarsat that serves to receive distress signals emitted by the Beacon.



There are 3 (three) types of Beacon:

1. EPIRB: Emergency positioning indicating radio beacon for ship

2. ELT: Emergency Locator Transmitter for aircraft

3. PLB: Personal Locator Beacon for individuals

Distress signal received and processed by the principle of Doppler effect for positioning data distres.Berdasarkan distress position, Basarnas Rescue Team immediately check to that location and if true disaster rescue action will begin immediately.

Based on the above cruise operators and airlines are expected to register Beacon held into the National SAR Agency so that in case of accident or cruise flight can be directly detected by Basarnas and as soon as practicable measures to be undertaken.
